Περιγραφή του προγράμματος:
The project aims in producing novel materials from very cheap raw materials most of which are industrial by-products, unexploited and with potentially superior properties when used as secondary materials in the manufacturing of ceramic and composite materials. This project is innovative in several points. The most important are: 1) Most of the proposed raw materials, which are industrial by-products, are both of different chemical and mineralogical composition and particle size distribution than those reported in literature2) The proposed combinations of these materials are new and may lead to novel or improved materials, 3) New materials made from combinations of up to three different raw materials of complex structure will be manufactured, 4) The approach of this project into using new raw materials covers a large spectrum of industrial by-products, 5) Some of the raw materials to be used may have superior flux-bonding capabilities leading to possible lower sintering temperatures and thereby to energy savings and 5) Some of the proposed new materials will be manufactured in a pilot scale extruder.
